HaT began the Mahdist Wars, as with most of their production, with a rush & then petered out, disappointingly long before anything like completion has been reached.
As most of you would know, the lengthy efforts to put down the Mahdist revolt then re-conquer The Sudan was primarily fought by the Egyptians with some British support. So, apart from the half set of Waterloo1815, we have no sets covering the main opponents of the Mahdi & the Khalifa.
There are gaps in the British too, but the primary need is for Egyptian infantry of the early & later periods, Sudanese infantry in their jumpers, cavalry, Bashi-Bazouks, artillery.
Any hope at all, HaT?

I fully support Paintdog's recommendation for Egyptian Infantry and Artillery to go with the Egyptian Camelry. I'd love to see Infantry with Fez, Double Bullet Pouches on a single Waist-Belt, Separate Backpacks and Gaitors in Summer Uniform. HaT's light tan color would work fine. I need these guys to defend my Airfix Fort Sahara Conversion of Khartoum and Gordon Pasha.

I want "army of Cleopatra". Wrong Egyptians.....I wouldn't dislike a Ptolomaic army but start your own thread! It's not like a new topic would get buried in all the forum traffic..... British infantry *are* lacking too but as Egyptians did most of the fighting, their need is greater IMO. Again infantry, some dismounted camel corps (to go with the great HaT Egyptian camel corps set NB they did NOT fight mounted so dismounted are essential) , cavalry & artillery. Some Krupp guns would be very useful. I would especially ask for Sudanese in their distinctive jumpers, & possibly some Bashi-Bazouks. In my dreams, some cuirassiers to represent those who accompanied Hicks but I'd be satisfied with the "bread & Butter" sets I've already listed. donald

Yes, I'd buy 10 - 20 boxes also, just like I did of each of the Red and Tan Highlanders, and Zulu Wars British in Red (actually around 20), plus Command Set. I'd like to use the Egyptian Infantry as both enemies or allies, depending on the Campaigns. Just gotta have these great looking Egyptians in their Fezs!

Would LOVE a set like this. Would easily buy 10-12 boxes. But I have near zero hope. Right now I'm just hoping for some restocks and some clear information about timing. It would be so nice. Well, you never know.
I'm also in the market for more boxes of the HaT Dervish Warriors. Although I have quite a few units of them based as infantry, I find my units of Mahdist Horse need a dismounted component. The Horse has speed but tends to get shot up very easily by the Anglo-Egyptians so I would like the option of having figures to represent them dismounted (along with a scratch-built horse holder & a few horses).
BTW IMO the best written source for the period: www.amazon.com/Mahdist-Wars-Source-Book-Comprising/dp/0692380833
Vol. 2 covers the re-conquest, a period I have less interest in but I may buy it as well, given the excellence of Vol1.
