There is some discussion of size differences between the HaT SYW Austrian infantry figures set and other sets from different manufacturers.
I realise other people have different standards to me. IMO, the size differences in the scans are negligible & anyone looking at several hundred figures will not notice them.
However, if I could leave a few tips that I use to mitigate size differences?
These hints are based on the wargaming practice of basing several figures together & grouping several bases into units eg 'Battalions"
1. Avoid putting figures from different manufacturers in the same unit. If you must, try not to base them on the same base.
2. Raise the height of the "short" figures. This is best done by gluing small bits of cardboard under their homogenous plastic bases.
You then glue the figures to their wargaming bases. As per usual, various fillers, flock etc is then glued on to hide the bases, which also cover your doctored plastic base.
A slightly higher base is less noticeable than a shorter figure.
3. Remove the plastic homogenous base from taller figures with a sharp hobby knife. This is more effective if the base is thick, as it seems to be with these HaT figures & less effective (sadly) with the rather large Zvesda figures which have very thin bases indeed. Again, once glued to a multi-figure base which is then terrained, your modifications tend to disappear.
I hope this is of some help.

Thanks for the tips. I would just add that if you're playing something like Sharp Practice it's actually quite nice to have your character figures, especially commanders, in a slightly larger scale. If they are on separate bases away from the main unit their size becomes less noticeable: indeed it's actually quite desirable to have slightly larger officer figures as they tend to have more heft and "gravitas".
