I like the photo but why ‘Republican’ Indians ? They had a king (Porus) and fought the Macedonian king, Alexander the great long before the Roman republic....

Thanks fellas. They are 'Republican' as I'm given to understand it, in as much (I'm quoting here fron DBM army list, not knowing any better myself) - '500BC - 321BC. This list covers the republican states of the Indus and Ganges basins until their incorporation into the Mauryan empire...' I don't think you can equate 'republic' in iron age India as in any way similar to that which existed in Greece and Rome. Seems to mean more that they didn't have kings as such until incorporated into which ever empire would let them in. Wikipedia has loads of stuff on it. Surpasses what I really want to know to be honest Allan, not many as I'm a recent convert, only really played out one battle and that was in 10mm. Here's a pic with apologies to the kind people at HaT.

Thanks for the picture jock. I keep looking at it myself. I have a 12 x 6 table that i built in the 80's which i covered in little bags of GW flock it cost me a fortune. I am now struggling with my health, so climbing into lofts is making me sway to the kallistra stuff rather than converting loft entrance.
Saw some of the stuff on their you tube site very tempting.

Allan, it's good if you can leave it assembled as it takes ages to put it together (as compared to rolling up a mat) and the clips are not that efficient. Really needs to be assembled face down but you are then left with the daunting prospect of turning it over, at which point half the clips fall out and it dis-assembles itself again! The boards themselves have zero grip so need to be on some kind of cloth or mat. A table as you describe with beading around the edge would be perfect as the whole thing would stay put and the clips wouldn't be needed.

Hi Jock,
Have you seen the video showing how to assemble a table, its on their you tube site it just shows a frame being clipped together. I had the same concerns about set up. have a look on their site the video is titled "Hexon Assembly with Kallistra".
I will probably invest in some as the quality is very good and figures stand on it well.

Allan, Yup, watched that before I bought a set of boards. All in all it's a very versatile system with loads of matched add-ons for each of the terrain schemes. Felt sticks to it like velcro. I got the 'desert transition' version as half my armies are for temperate climes the other for arid. They'll be at the Falkirk and Edinburgh shows, so an opportunity to try before you buy, saves carriage too. Some odds and sods on my blog under the 'terrain' tab at cameronian-onlyagame.blogspot.co.uk/
