Like to the peninsula dragoons, I would also prefer to see these with measures closer to the Italeri's ACW sets.

I'm also one to like compatibility between different companies as I like to mix and match my figures together. I think it is reasonable that this or that set of figures be within the reasonable ranges of scale. One of the things PSR allows us to check. Considering some of the issues we've had with sizing and scale in past years with certain companies that will remain nameless I think it is impractical to expect a particular company to scale its figures with a competitor, except as I stated above.
My own take is that HaT's figures look to match fairly well with Imex/Accurate (which in turn match with ACTA and not too far from ESCI - that puts them in line with some of the best figures out there IMHO and right in the middle of the scale. Now, if all goes well at the factory I'm really looking forward to these guys coming out. I know my Italeri ACW kind of stand out in the crowd when put together so I brigade them separately.

According to PSR, for the Union Infantry:
Accurate = 24mm ESCI = 24mm IMEX = 24mm Italeri = 24mm
However it seems that in actuality Italeri is slightly larger than the others. The prototypes also seem to be too large and need to be shrunk in size.

I think the prototypes are a little too big. Its not just height but bulk/heft also. The IMEX figure that has been chosen to do a comparison is probably the tallest of the IMEX figures and the prototypes are still taller and more bulky. Attached is an image of IMEX, Accurate and Italeri figures compared to the IMEX figure used. A 1mm reduction in height would be less than 5% reduction in size. IMO the height and heft would then better match with other figures on the market.

I agree with Neilad, they come across as too bulky, good to see you're rescaling them.

Yes - Slightly hefty, need sliming down. IMHO Would like a close match to the Accurate/Revel figures. Otherwise excellent.

I agree with Waynew, Traveller 1865, Neilad, and elektrikeal they are a little to big. I bought one set of Italeri, but I cannot mix them with other figures for they are too big. But Italeri is not like Hat they never listen to customers advise. It is a good thing Hat that you shrunk them in size. Keep up with your good woork. Sheuck

Just had a go at measuring some ACW figs myself from the various companies mentioned above. Whilst most figures in the sets seem to be around 24mm as quoted by PSR, there are a number of figures more like 23mm and in my sets at least the Accurate Union chap standing firing his pistol appears to be about 22mm.
So perhaps reducing their height by about 1mm would be reasonable, since they are fairly bulky compared some other sets.

I got curious seeing the comparison picture between the IMEX Confederate figure and the Hat prototypes. Neilad is right, the IMEX figure shown is actually about 26mm tall - much taller than the majority of the IMEX, Italeri, ESCI and Revell figures which are 23-24mm tall.

New sizing, approximately 1mm shorter than initial figures. The bases are a bit thicker here and 3-4% shrinkage is expected for production:

A small change has made a big difference. The figures look as though they will fit in well with those previously available.

Left two figures photoshopped 3% smaller and lined up:

This is why I love Hat. I think the adjustments you made are well within the range of variance and these figs will look right at home with my other ACW stuff. Can't wait to buy em!
