I've been thinking (always dangerous). Is it possible for hat to recycle the sprues to which the figures are attached and use them to create more figures?
if the answer is no, then stop reading here.
if it is possible, why not set up a voluntary returns system? It might cut costs. I have weighed a sprue of 1/72nd Prussian Landwehr before and after removing the figures. With figures attached it weighed 1.8 ounces. Without figures it weighed 1.3 ounces. That's more than two thirds waste.
as I said, just thinking

Manufacturers have been recycling scrap plastic since Beton started making plastic figures in the late 1930s. The recycled material is called regrind. It crates a marble effect in the plastic .The process can also produce a more brittle figure. The process is most often associated with either cheap production or a desire to create a special effect.

Hi Endeavour! Good point you are raising! I once wondered the same thing while I was throwing away the plastic sprues... I am not sure if something described as above can enter the process of what happens in the production factory. But your Idea definitely has my vote!

Commendable idea. Back when I was making rotomolded 1/6th tanks all the plastic was recyclable. You could even heat up scrap plastic to patch holes then sand smooth like Bondo.
