Okay so I'm the first to comment. What to say. Two things, the unpainted prototypes looked so promising, painted they look absolutely stunning. Basically we will have Perry 28mm quality in 1/72. So the shoulder insignias on the Confederate officer is unfortunate, but it can be trimmed off. The only negative thing I can think of is the time we have to wait to paint these (see profile pic for my feelings on this). Finally, Marcin has really done a superb job here, congrats to Marcin and HaT!

These look very nice indeed.
Hopefully a welcome return to form for Hat and lovely painting too.
I am researching Antietam and these guys would be most useful.
Best wishes,
Chris

Great work by both Marcin and Hat! My compliments for the good and hard work! I think these ACW figures are a smart move since I think there is a big interest in this period, they will sell well for sure!
Best, Stan

Great painting, I like the look of these figures very much. Is this now the final line up? There may be a final re-working of the figures, possibly adding a few more figures based on a final look at the thread of customer input. At this time, it looks like there will be 2 marching sets and a command set.

This is great to hear and so glad HaT is listening to its customers. Really like the look of these. Agree with Traveller1865 on the shoulder bars. Confederate officers more often wore double breasted coats but what's there will suffice. If we get a few more variations, blanket rolls and hats in shell jackets that would top it off. Looking forward to these being released.

The upside of these (and any other ACW set for that matter) is that these models don't just have to be for this war in particular. The union uniform in specific is extremely close to the Danish army of the period for their war against Prussia in the Second Schleswig War (though Winter coat wearing ones would probably be better to hide the inaccuracies that there are)
Granted it is a very obscure war to bring up, but I'm just saying that the set can have more than one use. That and I recently watched the 1864 tv show and i highly recommend others to give it a watch. The battle it revolves around (the Battle of Dybbøl) is very well done.
The only issue with the conversion is that there aren't any good Prussian Infantry sets for the same period, which is a shame.

The visor on the kepi was somewhat different for Danes though but in this scale it probably won't matter, also for Dybbøl greatcoats is more appropriate. There is a good Prussian infantry set from Emhar however as you point out it's not suitable for wars with Denmark.

Great painting work, as always Marcin! I really like these figures, hope the line expands quickly (infantry in action, cavalry, artillery.....)

Well, nothing is ever going to be perfect, but they are the closest at this scale for such an obscure war. I don't particularly like the Emhar Prussian set. The sculpts just aren't particularly nice. I've seen WW1 Germans being used as Prussians of the period, and it does kind of work. However it would be great to see decent sets made for the German Wars of Unification. Or at least the basic infantry sets (which I believe at this point would be a mix of Marching models and skirmishing models as they started to use more open tactics by this point?)

Great work Marcin - and Amen to what has been said about the Second Schleswig War, the siege of Dybbøl, landing operations and all that make it an interesting conflict.
