Hello all, Does anyone know what period the proposed HaT Byzantines are for? I don't know much about the Byzantine Empire and looking at the masters they look like they could be from anywhere in the 7th-13th century period. The empire lasted so long and for a novice like myself it's hard to pin down a time period for these figures.

I think they are intended for the 10-11th century as they included the Varangian Guard in the original masters, but probably the bulk of the regulars would work for earlier and a bit later as you suggest....

I would certainly be interested to see the full range of Byzantine masters some time. The figures currently showing on the main site page look like armoured spearmen of the c9th to c11th period and also look 'just right' for forming a nice three-deep phalanx...but no sign of Varangians, missile troops or anything else so far as I can see.
I'd buy the Byzantines if they ever became available, but am not holding my breath. Requests for them to be moved up the queue seem to go all the way back to the early days of the HaT Forum (feels like centuries ago?). I am therefore making do with the old Italeri/Zvezda set of Russian Knights, and various Eastern European producers' products. These figures are not too bad when put into units and viewed en masse, and while the sculpting is not up to the standard that we might expect HaT to be able to achieve, they have to do.
Any chance of Byzantines before the end of 2020 do you think?

Thank you gents for the info. I remember there being support for them from forum members in the past, especially from Jerzy, but there never seems to be any progress on them. Only one other manufacturer makes them that I know of, so there is bit of a gap here to be filled.
