I used ESCI painted to match - worked for me at this scale until a dedicated set came out. Thanks waynew, it looks like most everything matches up though a slightly shorter czapka (sp?) may be in order. Were there any mods needed to be accurate that you recall? I'd be interested to see the results if possible. dli I'll have to drag them out. I don't recall I did that much too them; sometimes I'm not a big stickler on things like that for my own enjoyment. Now, if I'm doing a diorama for someone else...

The marching Prussians have arrived, along with some British Rifles and some potential conversions. Looks like I'll be busy for a while.

Not much. Trying to build up a Napoleonic 1815 Brunswick er... Division ? Mini-Division ? yeah Mini-Division. And one NCO figure away from completing the Leib Battalion. and other than being two figures short of completing the Advant-garde Light Infantry, I am trimming off the Horsehair plumes and filing away the bottoms of the plumes to make the Light and Line battalions. (All this time wishing Hat made more of the figure marching with the ring hand and one less pose of the marching figures.)
Oh yes, I have a Black Duke of Brunswick figure from the Waterloo 1815 Leaders set. I have to wonder if you bother to outfit yourself and your troops all in black, do you bother to get a black horse to ride on just for reasons of chic....
The second in command is a metal Brunswick ADC figure and the two leaders have Hussar ADC's from the Brunswick Cavalry set. The are the ones where the swords are shouldered. Finally two Brunswick Leib Officers have been promoted to Brigade Commanders by having their torsos swapped with ESCI Scots Greys And Horses provided by ESCI Polish Lancers.
Not quite sure what to do with forming the Brunswick Artillery yet...

Getting back into painting and hobbying in general by finishing my Swedish infantry.
The plan is to recreate the Order of Battle of the Swedish Corps at Leipzig.
So far, I've got two battalions of the first brigade finished (Södermanlands Regiment and Norra Skanska Regiment) and waiting to get paid so I can order some Bavarian Fusiliers to convert them to be the Uppland Regiment, then this brigade will be finished.
After this, the plan is to move onto the Cavalry brigades and artillery.

I have now got the Hat SYW Austrians to go along with my Revell figures. My new project is to finally make the SYW Austrian Pontoons. The crew are supplied from the Revell SYW Austrian Artillery while the Pontoon will be based on the Hat Napoleonic Austrian Artillery Caisson with the Outriders from the Zvedza GNW Swedish Artillery. I was going to use the Hat French Pontoon but it was too wide for the Austrian limbers so I decided to make my own planks and Pontoons from card and transform the Ammunition Caisson since it looked more Austrian.

I have started to add to my Bavarian army now I have caught up with the last of the Hat restocks boxes I intend to double the size of both the Infantry & Cavalry & add to the artillery as well using Hat figures for all as nobody else makes Bavarians in plastic. I think I may get side lined when my marching Old guard & French line infantry arrive from another manufacturer.

I have a problem that I would hazard a guess some of you have experienced as well; namely having too many projects going at once. I didn't intend to do this to myself but I have at least a dozen boxes of figures in various stages of paint and it's beginning to confuse me trying to remember which shades i used in certain places. I write down the uniform colors but realized to my horror that I didn't do the same for the horses - many of which i ended up repainting entirely due to not knowing what colors I had used previously. I need to make a firm commitment to finishing what I have on hand and not starting anything new until they are done!
From almost finished to just starting; Austrian line infantry Austrian grenadiers Austrian landwehr Austrian grenzers Austrian artillery Austrian horse artillery Austrian chevauxleger French 1815 marching Early Nap French marching French foot dragoons French Dragoons Plus various buildings and scenery bits.

Since I last posted I went on an unexpected hiatus due to some health issues; family visiting over the holidays, then several trips with the Mrs. I just kind of lost momentum. The last week or so I've been pondering the new sets coming in needing paint - as well as the backed up projects needing finishing before I get to those new sets.
So...
I've begun putting together the Zulu War wagons that have been waiting painted on sprue since December, yesterday I took some cavalry sets off the sprue. I hope to have some pics of scenes soon. Then I expect to finish painting the huge amounts of Prussian Landwehr I started last fall (they'd only been in the box for a little over a year). Once I get those finished up I can start considering my next projects. Who knows what they'll be, I was digging in my boxes and found a literal case of Spanish Infantry I've had in the box for who-knows-how-long...

I'm already finishing HaT Bavarian Light Infantry in 1/32, German Paratroopers from Airfix and starting on Austrian Grenadiers from Italeri. Everything in 1/32. Also making my first attempt to 1/72 painting some French Infantry figures like HaT Young Guard. I hope HaT will release soon their Napoleonic Austrians in 1/32 and they can join and fit well with my new Grenadiers unit.

Zaphod- No British cavalry standards - They went into storage in 1794 and were captured by the French along with the Duke of York's baggage - as far as I am aware they had already stopped carrying them and didn't bother again after that...

1/32 SYW Prussians as 1760 Hessians and Brunswickers. Will paint 1/32 Austrians as Saxons in French service. Think it will make a nice set that is slightly different. Great info on Kronoskaf and some very nice flags go with these units.

I am working on some unique command figures:
1) A mounted Austrian Colonel from the Italeri set has become Oberst Johann Frimont of the short lived Mounted Jaegers, who became an Army commander during the Hundred Days. The Mounted Jaegers wore pretty much the same uniform as their infantry brothers in arms.
2) I am still debating as to cover French General of Division Dorsenne (Strelet's French Staff on Foot set) in mud, dirt and dust as he is supposedly knocked off his horse. (Well, in my model, I do have his horse with a hole in it that matches an Austrian 6 pdr entry round... An ADC (Zvezda) is dismounting to loan him this horse. (ECSI Polish Lancers)
3) From Strelet's Russian and Prussian Command set Platov, Denisov, and Luetzow have their arms chopped off and they have been chopped off at the torso. My big problem with these figures being I have yet to find decent new arms to match them that I do not need.
4) I also picked up a set of Odemars Wellington's Staff set. I am going to keep one stand as is but I am going to convert the other two. Two General Picton figure is going to end up to be American Brigadier Generals Winder and Chandler.

Hi Everyone,
I can relate to the posts regarding eye issues. I had an eye injury as a child and I'm fast approaching fifty. Eye doctor says I couldn't have picked a worse hobby, lol. So, I work on figures slowly and use a magnifier, taking breaks by making terrain or structures. Currently, I'm working on some Peninsular War figures for skirmish games. I have recently bought some boxes of French light infantry, the British Peninsular war box, a small box of the Spanish light infantry and a box of the British Marines and Fighting sailors. I was also inspired to pick up a box of the Dutch and Belgian infantry by some of the War of 1812 conversions I have seen on the website, the idea being that I can use my British troops and sailors on two continents at some point. I have enough of a 1/72 scale figure collection that rebasing, touching up and so on can always keep me busy. I do keep on dabbling in the 28mm plastics, but always seem to come back to 1/72. I'm not even sure it's a big advantage for my eyes to do the larger scales, as I can somewhat speed paint the smaller guys and leave plenty of shadow in spaces on the figure. Rules that focus on small scale engagements with a lot of scatter terrain are what I paint for now in general. But, for me the real value of the hobby is spending some time at the bench just tinkering with whatever has my always tenuous interest at that point.

Just finished French National Guard converted from Italeri French Infantry set and working on some French Light Infantry in 1/72. As I am generally 1/32 collector and painter this 1/72 project is more for fun and my first attempt to try some wargaming.

Dear all, My two passions are: Napoleonic 1/72 soldiers and jet airplane scale 1/72 (Middle East Conflicts). Currently I'm working on; 4 btns of voltigeur of the French Young Guard (Zvezda); 2 btns of light French infantry (Hat); Conversion of French Hussars into Austrian ones(Italeri-Hat); a second regiment of Cossaks (hat; Don Cossaks). Furthermore I'm making my own soldiers through moulds obtained modifying existing figures of various manufcturers. Gio.
