Young'un! Actually, glad to see younger collectors interested. Great idea for the poll; one of the recurring topics on other toy soldier forums in which I participate is the "aging" of our hobby - particularly among 1/32 plastic collectors in the USA. To see younger folks involved gives me hope on the survival of the hobby - if I could just get my grandkids interested so I don't have to start selling off... Mamelukes was their first. I think I bought it along with the Prussian Uhlans way back then.

No shame in telling your age I am 57 & hope to be painting for many years to come the main problem as I see it is who to leave your collection to when your too old to carry on.

In my early 30's. Had a very long break between 14 years old and 28 as I prioritised drinking, taking drugs and chasing women...then common sense prevailed again...

Thanks to him I'm in this hobby because he showed me that when I was a kid. USA has such a good community and many makers in 1/32. There are many Toy Soldier Shows and they are pretty often when on the other side there is none in my country (of course there are Model Shows but with tanks/airplanes to figures ratio 100:1).

Nice mechanics on the poll! I just voted for the 60-69 category -- and the upper end of that, to be precise. The only family legacy is a nephew, and he mostly moved on to board games years ago and is now getting rid of those. In fact, I sell them for him on consignment at HMGS conventions. The other family member is a brother-in-law, but he's a couple years older than I am, and I can't take credit for his formation! He doesn't collect HaT, or any plastic figures. Years ago he bought me some metal 25 mm-28 mm ACW figures and got himself a similar set. Then he partially painted his set and gave them all to me. So he doesn't do figures anymore, either.

I was on the verge of voting in the 50-59 category when I realised that I'm not any more. Where do the decades go? I'm also pleased to see there are younger collectors it means the hobby has a future. And I hope you have a younger generation of manufacturers to keep you supplied until you reach the 60-69 bracket. No family legacy on the cards here. Perhaps I'll do the Terra Cotta Army thing... in plastic.

If interest will decrease then manufacturers will also disappear or will stop making new sets. This days HaT have to make crowdfunding actions to release even one 1/32 set when on the other side on the market there are hundred of WW2 German sets in 1/35, everything you can dream about (Germans in Russia, Germans standing, Germans eating breakfast, German survivors, Germans sleeping, etc.).

I've added to one of the unrepresented categories.
It's been a month, and I'm still standing alone.

Hi, I am 56 years and collecting plasticsoldiers since my 10th. Mainly Arfix, Esci and Revell untill the late 90thies. Hät was since then the main supplier and is untill now responsible for over 30 % of my collection (86000 figures). Visiting the Hät website daily, a lot has changed over the last years. Minor changes, minor announcements etc... the last couple off years. Other manufacturars have a challenging offer and choice! Nevertheless carry on!!
Regards, and many thanks for the WW1 Belgians
Johan

I've been collecting and playing with my toys going into my seventh decade, so far. Have no intention on stopping either. Collectors today don't know how good they have it.There were constant articles in Airfix magazine on how to convert their figures into just about everything using a sharp knife, clay and banana oil. Hey you kids get off my lawn. Just kidding Bob

Does 23 make me the youngest here? I’ve been painting 1/72 figures since I was a kid.. I’m less embarrassed now but it’s still a hobby you wouldn’t catch me telling my mates about over a pint!

I am the ONLY one of my friends who collect but they are pretty good at letting me talk about new sets, painting or something. I have been collecting since I was 4 or 5 (30 now) and they refer to my soldiers as my "best friends" haha. I was also pretty worried that the hobby would be difficult to explain to dates or girlfriends but most folks just seem intrigued and impressed for a lack of a better word.
