Our re-fight of Emdorf (1760) provided a challenging & entertaining game. The table was set up, ready for play, as he historical ambush : where the unwary French were surprised by an allied force of Hanoverians, Hessians & British (represented by Prussians in my game) just outside the village of Emdorf. The Allied commander was brutal. Two French battalions were destroyed in the first two turns Initially, the only unit that could oppose the allies were a unit of French light infantry: The French, outnumbered & outclassed, retreated towards a river crossing that promised respite but the Allies were determined to destroy them, pursuing aggressively: The French perhaps foolishly, turned on the allies & inflicted casualties: But cut-off from the bridge & surrounded, they surrendered. As one of the French commanders, I can say although we were soundly beaten, we put up a spirited defence. donald

D@mn that's impressive Donald. Wonderful what you have done with paint and/or figure conversions of the few Seven Years War sets and several of the Great Northern War ones.
Super set-up.

Thanks, James.
It's encouraging to get a nice comment.
Em(s)dorf represents about 75% of my French & Prussian SYW armies & I have a matching Austrian force. I don't *need* any more but would be in the market for sets covering the gaps - heavy cavalry, light troops, staff. One of my pals is attempting to create a British SYW army, mainly using Red Box & HaT.
What would tempt me is a complete Russian SYW army: infantry, cavalry, arty & staff.
If only (if only!!) HaT would make at least 4-5 sets of Russians that are of the quality of their SYW Prussians!
Dream on Paint dog.

And I appreciate your comments, too. There's people you "meet" on the internet you know would be great to game with....you don't live in Australia, do you? donald

It will sound very, very petty to remark COVID made wargaming here a little less easy this year.
Queensland has 5 million people but only 7 COVID deaths (so far...) because of some stringent measures.
This meant our annual, two-day Show game was cancelled for the second year, & various home-games were cancelled because of lock-downs & restrictions.
I am, of course, grateful we've been spared the worst that the world is experiencing.
So, any game we've had this year (I think 6) have been relished by me & my pals.
I hope & trust you & yours are doing well in these difficult times.

In times like these one does what one can. I'm dealing with some things myself; last year this time I had COVID-19 and wanted to die just to get it over with - but knew I had to hang around longer. Now it's something else. Just have to suck it up and drive on. Oh yes, keep your head on a swivel.

Are these 1/72 or 1/32. Impressive in any scale.

Cheeky, Donald, cheeky! 'DeralteFritz', I am really impressed with the photo of your floor game (which looks to be in 1/72 as it happens). I'd love to see more of your activitiesโa blog perchance? Regards, James
