The whole idea of having separate headgear is so that the consumer may choose whether to represent Musketeers (Tricorn), Grenadiers (Mitre) or Fusiliers (Fusilier Cap). This is not an option with the Austrians since Grenadiers had a short sabre whereas Musketeers had a Bayonet.
Best regards,
Malcolm

I was aware of that - personally I would have preferred to have bought boxes of each type as required (as I will with the nice new Austrians) and not had to stick the hats on. I voted with my wallet by not purchasing them and wondered if anyone else thought the same. It seems that on this forum at least they don't - no problem, it is a matter of personal preference.

But with the Austrians separate sets of headwear was not an option since the Grenadiers have a short sabre whereas the Musketeers have a bayonet. I seem to remember Hat posting line drawings many years ago with options for headgear and the choice of sword or bayonet. I guess with all those options it would have made the sprue design too complicated and that's why they have decided to produce the Austrians as they are. I intend to buy at least one of each in 1/3 2nd scale but I am more interested in 1/7 2nd scale where I would buy considerably more.
Best regards,
Malcolm
