Hope the plastic is better than the set I am currently painting. Despite washing and several under coats they are not keeping the acrylic paint well at all. I have gone back to enamels for these figures. A little frustrating.

Hope the plastic is better than the set I am currently painting. Despite washing and several under coats they are not keeping the acrylic paint well at all. I have gone back to enamels for these figures. A little frustrating. Good morning Boney95, I do experience same issue with a lot of figures Hat but also Zvezda. As of a couple of years I undercoat all my figures with a Woodland Scenic sticky glue diluted with water. Then I prime them in Vallejo polyurethane primer grey or black then I paint them and I finish with Vallejo polyurethane Matt varnish. The paint now resists far better then before especially on this specific plastics. I hope this helps. Kind regards. CPN

I don't know what country you are from, but I usually use a spray primer designed for plastics, Rustoleum now produces a pretty good paint that works; Krylon (from Walmart in the USA) works great, too. I believe they've done away with their old plastic paint but still carry paints that adhere well to plastic. Since I've begun using these as my primers and sealing (IMPORTANT!!!) with a clear acrylic sealant after I paint my figures chipping and peeling - particularly on the softer plastic HaT uses - has been almost completely eliminated. I use craft acrylics in my painting rather than the hobby paints as I find they coat better and tend to be more elastic when they dry.
To recap, I:
1) Wash figures. 2) Prime with a plastic-bonding spray paint (I like a dark brown as it highlights detail but isn't as stark (IMO) as black - but that's a matter of taste). 3) Paint with acrylic paint (again, I used craft acrylics). 4) Allow to sit at least 24 hours and then spray with a clear acrylic sealant - one can choose from gloss, flat, or matte (I prefer matte finish, but I watch some of the mattes as they seem to leave a film on the figures - I always test a brand before I use it on most of the pieces, I'd mention some brands but don't know which are available to you).
I hope this helps. I used to have the same problems with ALL plastics. I hope I save you a ton of time and money.

Yes. They are currently being run at the factory. A Great set in it's own right and with heads swaps can be used right up to Waterloo as well as other armies of the period can not wait to get some more of these.
