Before HAT started its restock program the British Peninsular infantry Nassau infantry were often sold on ebay at prices of over £50 & I saw a mounted Napoleonic officer set achieve over £100. My highest price I paid was £26 for a box of revel nap British infantry what is the most you have paid from an auction site and what is the highest price you have seen a rare set sell for.

I have seen Nassau sets sell for £80, British Peninsular for £45, British Zulu war inf £30, Brunswick cavalry for £52, Zvezda Russian Hussars regularly selling for £40-£50, Revell 30 years war sets between £20 and £50. If I see rare sets on ebay I do watch them to see their final prices-an almost morbid curiosity!
I would really like a good condition box of Revell 30 years war artillery and always put a max bid of £20, If I get outbid, then so be it. Surely no set should be worth over double the original price?! Needless to say, I'm always outbid for these sets! The most I have spent (proportionally from the original price) is £11.50 for British zulu war inf about two years ago (long before it was re-stocked). Harfields was the best place to get second hand rare sets from-always fairly priced with no bidding required.

Rare HaT set is 9304 French Light Infantry Chasseurs which is not even available on eBay! Yes indeed...But they will be re-stocked now..I hope soon! I spotted them on eBay sometime ago...I managed to buy around 30 that were painted very basic for a fair price, but I also been in auctions of Carabiniers that went crazy! (130 dollars for 3 boxes, figures cut of the sprue!). I had already bought one box of Chasseurs at the time and recently managed to get another box (new) from a fellow collector for the normal price of 13 euro's, so for Chasseurs I am good now although I will buy more when they get re-stocked..Just because!.. Also got a box of Carabiniers (My first! Finally!) from him also for the same fair price

You are lucky, Stan! I need this Chasseurs and Carabiniers! For now I have only one box of Light Voltigeurs from my local hobby store. Generally its hard to get HaT figures in my country because sets like Wurttemberg dissapear from market one day after restock!

I don't pay more than £15 for any set, and tend to look out for substitutes instead if I can. The Revell sets that are out of production (and perhaps will never return) are a great loss, and there are times when I have been tempted to part for lots of money for the likes of some more sets of their Napoleonic sets, but then have thought that it's better to go with something else. No-one has really ever bettered their 30 years War sets for pike and musket in 1/72 plastics, and as a result this is the one era that I have gone to another scale for; in my case, 15mm metals.
I tend now to buy a couple of sets of most things that come out, including the HaT re-releases. It means that I hold a bit of stock, which is not ideal and takes up space, but it also means that I have figures available as and when I need them (usually) at normal retail prices.
