The WW2 tank rider sets that HaT made a while back (and re-issue) are great sets and really useful to provide vehicle crews/passengers as well as crowding onto the upsides of tanks.
I also imagine that these sets will have sold quite well.
I think there is good potential for a couple more sets at least: How about sets for the British/Commonwealth forces in the western desert (ie: with shorts and shirt sleeves) and a set of DAK/Axis for the same theatre of war and period? Both sets would be useable for other Mediterranean campaigns also.

I think that the two desert tank rider sets would do well in fact I could do with the 8th army one right now I have a couple of brit trucks I need to fill with desert troops. I will have to use hat British tank riders, well not every soldier wore shorts in the desert, the PSC might bring out some soon it would be their sort of thing & I know they are going to bring out a DAK infantry set I have seen the pictures.

Yes, the PSC might fill the gap, although for my money their figures tend to suffer with out of scale (too big) heads. My western desert forces are based around Airfix 1/76 scale (simply because that's where they started decades ago) and so a little smaller is better. The HaT British tank riders set will serve for the time being, together with some metal 20mm figures. If it were not for the rubbery plastic that the HaT figures have been made of they would be more easily convertible to infantry wearing shorts (a little trimming around the knees). A western desert set might also be useful for SAS - maybe spare heads with one or two Arab head-dresses?

Long ago Hat showed some masters for 8th Army tank riders but some members of the Forum claimed troops didn`t ride on tanks in the desert due to the hot metal and that was that. Even if that was the case (which is questionable) such figures both 8th Army / DAK / Italians would still be useful to put in trucks , cars ,jeeps etc as well as being useful for the Italian campaign as already pointed out. Another very useful set would be Russian Tank riders in winter gear. From what I`ve heard the Tank Rider sets sold very well so perhaps Hat might invest in further sets ??

Hat could release a Truck & Half track riders set for all the major players In ww2 & include some driver figures in the box Start With British & German & if they sell well expand the range. Hat could also include extra stowage bits & spare weapons Also crates and luggage Back packs Etc. I cant be the only person on this forum with empty trucks & half tracks that need filling with troops.

Location is the Libyan desert. The metal of the tank may be at least 'warm', but it's better than foot-slogging in the grit. Passengers, crew and drivers for trucks, anti-tank portees and open topped afvs eg: bren carriers would be really useful.....
