Just finished looking at photos of reenactors. The backpacks are definitely not hanging "too low." The Austrian shako was a bit narrower methinks.

Reenactors are often not a good reference, especially those who only wear the uniform and gear for a couple of days at the weekend, just for drill and a battle or two, without any real marching. When you have done a "campaign style" event over 5-10 days, almost everyone has their backpacks as high as they can get them, and even breadbags and canteens are on short slings to stop them swinging whilst marching, which can be extremely fatiguing. In 1995 and again in 2005 we marched from Ligny to Plancenoit with elements of the Prussian brigade in anticipation of the Waterloo reenactment, and everyone found it much easier to carry the pack high on your back.

As one who has put in many a mile with a fifty-plus pound "rucksack" (field pack) on my back. I will tell you that you want you pack and any equipment "High and tight" to prevent swinging. So you cinch your straps as tightly as you can to prevent excess swinging when you start out. At the same time, let me tell you the equipment doesn't stay high and tight long so it's a constant battle to keep the equipment where it belongs so... An old US Army cadence goes, "My boots are heavy my pack is tight My b--ls are swinging from left to right Sound off One-two Sound off three-four..."

Yes the backpacks are hanging quite low! (opinion of another re-enactor). Just finished looking at photos of reenactors. The backpacks are definitely not hanging "too low." Great work! And nice to see someone from design team on the forum! :-) Welcome! Its nice to have you here! Hope the HaT team is doing okay in these odd times! Stan Greetings! - The pants cuffs have been fixed, thanks! - The "buttons" are stitchings in real life, however the buttons on the tiny figures may help them stand out in 1/72 as an exaggeration and provide some bas relief for painters and non-painters alike. The inside buttons will be removed. - The backpacks may or may not be detachable at this point which may solve the question of the backpack straps. Based on the questions on the Nap. Austrian backpacks last time, there was an issue of an attached and high-up backpack not coming out of the mold and actuality of backpacks sliding down during the march. - As always thanks for your participation, it is much appreciated!
