Good evening (or day!)! Last week I received the HaT Napoleonic 1/32 Austrian Command set 9328 TEST SPRUE! I am thrilled to share this with you! I will also make sure HaT will receive the pictures! After ten years of waiting I cannot express how I felt to actually see and physically hold these Napoleonic Austrians by HAT that are so desired by many of us. The scale of the figures is great, the detail is great, the headgear options are great and so easy to put on and take of its childs play! So enjoy two of my videos that you will find down below in this post and for more pictures go over to stansarmee.blogspot.com/

Thank you for the effort that went into assembling the post. Hopefully the sets can move forward quickly and be released in 2021.
I notice that the mounted officer now has an intregal arm. In previous showings of the set the two arms for the officers were separate and interchangeable.

In previous showings of the set the two arms for the officers were separate and interchangeable. True, that also might solve the problem of the too short sabre. But not sure if there will be any changes to this sprue in this stage..I don't think so to be honest. Also really cant wait much longer! I will get to the painting desk asap! :-)

Great to see this set finally take shape and come to fruition. Let's hope the corresponding sets are not too far behind. Many thanks to Stan for sharing this so quickly with the rest of us so we can get a good look at what will be on offer. It feels as if we might be returning to something we kind of got used to from HAT a decade ago - regular issues of 1:32 sets. We all forward to more in 2021

And yes, I even think HaT stepped up its game, I really hope to, indeed like a decade ago see 1/32 sets more frequently! Best regards, Stan

Excellent news. Really looking forward to these. Mind you, a decent set of French infantry wouldn’t go amiss either 😉

Thank you Stan for the wonderful videos detailing the figures (and your own current impressive 1/32 Austrian collection) and your thoughts on the Hat set. Very helpful!
Thank you Hat for what look like excellent, almost ready for production figures!!! LOVE the swapable hats!!!!
Very happy with the set as currently composed & hoping to buy many many sets of these as soon as possible
One question/suggestion (if it would not delay production of the set); if the drummer’s pack were molded on the figure, would it allow extra hats on the spru?
Thanks again for bringing my dream of an 1/32 1809 Austrian army almost to reality!
Cheers

Hat production team, please take note of ideal Austrian Napoleonic infantry plastic color!
Please see the start of Stan’s first video for the color of the Replicant Austrian infantry as this “dirty white” is the ideal color to cast Napoleonic Austrian infantry (in my humble opinion).
I much prefer it to the cream that Hat used for its recent 1/72 Austrian German fusiliers (and that Italeri used for its 1/32 Austrians). It also shows detail much better than a glossy white would.
Sorry for harping on this, but these figures color is very important to my build of an unpainted 1/32 Battle of Wagram, for which I would like to purchase several hundred Hat sets (to go with the few hundred Hat French, Bavarian, Wurttemberg and other sets I’ve already purchased).
Thank you!

Thank you! Not the argue with you rbhjr, but what color of the Replicants do you mean? They come in a pure white, which is horrible when it comes to seeing details when you paint them up. With some the plastic is melted different and there are grays in it. The beige ones are best for seeing details. I think the color of the Italeri Austrians is perfect..Don't you like that? It could be a bit more creamy I guess :-) But good point indeed, I wonder what color they will pick.

While it is not intolerable, it is not a good color when seen on masses of troops in formation, and doesn't conjure the image of the Austrian army. Fair point about the Replicants color not being consistent. The color I think best for the Austrians is a “dirty white”; that is dark enough to show details and yet still be white (not grey or cream). Cheers

I posted this in the garish color thread on the subject;
Napoleonic Austrians best color would be theater of the “dirty white” of the Replicant 1/32 figure as seen here; my132wagram.blogspot.com/2021/01/132-austrian-color-comparison-pic.html
1. looks better than the cream color typically used
2. is more representative of the color of these uniforms in service (as “cleaned”/ whitened with pipe clay and chalk)
3. better shows detail than a bright white (as seen in the Accurate 1776 Brit in the linked pic).
Thoughts?

The only white I remember were the Airfix Bedouins, Astronauts and Rev War British Grenadiers. Of those, the Bedouins were in matte white and they looked better once they got a bit of dirt on them. The British Grenadiers were glossy white and that’s the worst type of white. In fact any type of light color looks bad in glossy plastic

Timpo also had the French and British in white. I also have some Airfix copies in a semi glossy white! I much more prefer a cream or darker color or grey.. but for me the color is less important as in the end the goals is to paint them anyway, no matter if it ever happens or not ;-)

Any update on this set from Hat?
Particularly on the timing of its release?
How wonderful it would be if Hat volunteered updates on the status of its in productions sets!
Cheers

Dear rbhjr,
I was able to pre-order with our retailer here yesterday who has a list from Hat and is getting an order together for an October shipment.
I write this in good faith, not trying to steal Hat's thunder, but as news from a fellow enthusiast/collector/wargamer. I trust this is okay? (Apologies if I have inadvertently 'stepped on any toes').
Regards, James

That is great news James! However...The action of bringing out a Command set without bringing the troopers to the market still makes me frown...My suggestion still would be...Sorry (I will be stepping on toes now) to hold on to the set of the command until the action and marching are out and then release them all at once so people will actually buy the command set...Now I think its only joy to a very particular niche (yes myself included). Nevertheless, my eternal apologies...I have painted the sprue above long time ago and still haven't taken any pictures/shared anything with you or HaT. I will get on it as soon as the Dutch clouds move away from the sun..

I’m fine with them releasing the command set as soon as possible as I need many of these for other units already before the Hat action & marching sets come out (hopefully by this time next year). I agree entirely with rbhjr's comments above. Let's get what Hat is ready to make available to us as soon as possible. I just hope we don't have to wait another year before we see the marching and action sets. But I suppose realistically it might take that long. I understand Stan's comment about ideally having them all at once but that's not the world we have been in for a decade now.

If everyone paints their Austrians white-ish… (and NO ONE wants an Austrian army in any color other than White!) then that’s the color they should be made in! Cheers
