With the completion of the Russian and Hungarian Infantry and a few odds and ends there is little HaT can offer in 1/72 unless it spreads its nets of creation further afield or returns to some sets to update them. There is, of course, alot of 28mm (most popular) and 1/32 they can do but I fear the light at the end of the tunnel of 1/72 may be a desert with only a few oases here and there. (IMHO)

I have to disagree. There are many sets that could potentially still be done. I wont list them here again as they have often been listed (requested) in other threads, but it is definately fair to say there is still plenty of room for more sets.

I disagree also. HaT has some 1/32 or 28mm figures which they have not released in 1/72 and with CAD some of the older figures can be converted into new ones. And new ones can ordered in CAD.

I gotta disagree with your two fellas disagreements. If its not listed its not in the pipe line. There are only 4 listed as 'coming' left. The Hungarians, Prussian Wagons, Fr Elites in coats, Brunswickers. No other one is listed and many have been on the lists for years. If HaT was going to produce new figs or rework older ones they almost certainly would announce their interest in doing so to keep collectors from going to other companies for their figures. There is nothing listed about doing 1/72 figs from 1/32 or 28mm and the same reason to want to announce them still is valid. HaT would not work years on a product that nobody knows about then suddenly release it with the chance other companies would beat them to the draw. Not good business sense not to let folks know of whats in the future. I like HaT figs. Most of my 4,000 Naps are HaT but its hard to see where offically they might be coming and not just wishing they were coming.

I know what your saying but new set production from Hat has dramatically fallen away compared to the "glory days", for all eras not just Napoleonics. I wouldnt read too much into what potential new sets are listed on the site. Yes sets like the Brunswickers, Prussian Wagons etc have been listed on there for a long time now with nothing to show for them, but I dont think it gets updated much. All we can do is keep asking for the sets we would like to see, whatever the era. If Hat never makes them, or is simply far too slow in doing it, thats up to them. Its their business.
Otherwise its a case of lobbying another manufacturer for the sets, which they probably will make if enough people ask...and quickly too. So it wont be the end for new Napoleonic sets in 1/72 in the hobby, but from Hat....who knows.

One other thing I would add is if taking their time means we dont see any repeats of oddly sized figures or poor moulding, so they can concentrate on getting them right and with quality, im happy for them to take a little longer...albeit not years obviously!!! If however we have to wait ages only for a poor quality product...well thats another issue.

Dear Forumers,
I've followed your debate about the future of 1/72 soldiers.
When Hat started its activities, it was a real revolution for the 1/72 scale modelers, particularly for the Napoleonic enthusiast. For a decade at least, Hat was the leader in the sector. Afterwards an increasing number of producer joined the market: Zvezda, HaT, Waterloo 1815, to mention only but a few (it's interesting in this sense reading the statistics published by Plastic soldier review). It must be also said that with the advent of 3D scanners and printers, the process of working out new figures was enormously facilitated, further increasing the number of manufacturers.
I know that I've annoyed the audience by repeating that it's urgent producing the Hungarians with shako, as, for Napoleonic wargamers, the Hungarian component is fundamental for a at least four military campaigns (It would be ideal having spare heads for grenadiers too).
Someone criticized me for proposing to resume the crowdfunding, a successful practice in my opinion , that accelerated and made it possible the production of Prussian Landwehrs , for instance,
With regards to possible future Napoleonic subjects, I've got a suggestion: currently Hat produce a single set for Prussian reserve regiments which is quite old and refers to a uniform worn until summer 1813. After that date, many uniforms were adopted and carried by such regiments, until 1815. On this topic there are a lot of very accurate documents, easily available: with an appropriate debate on line and the contribution of the forum attenders, it would be possible to have an excellent set.
Thanks for your patience.
Gio.
