In the forty years of gaming, I have always arranged my napoleonic battalions as follows. 1 officer, 2 standards. 1 drummer or bugler with 20 figures of the same pose. This has led to an ever growing box of figures that are surplus and just lie in a plastic tub going unused. At last count I had over 3000 figures of various nations in this tub. Just want to know if it is ok now to mix poses in a battalion and rescue these figures. Would appreciate your opinions.

I've done both. Started out with one pose, except for command. Lately I stick to complementary poses: variants on charge or defend, if available; shooting alternated with loading, etc.

I like to divide mine up into battalions or regiments more or less doing the same thing. For instance, one formation will be firing, but I'll mix loading and firing poses and like even different companies' figures if they're compatible for variation. Then I'll put marching poses together in formation as well as advancing, etc. of course with command figures. Squares and other special formations are a whole other matter.
