I've recently acquired four boxes of Caesar Hittites.
Without getting too technical, I'd like to build an 800+ point Field of Glory army to oppose my existing Mycenaean & NKE armies. So what figures can I add as allies & mercenaries to make up the numbers?
AFAIK: everything will need to be Caesar figures?
The Hittite boxes I have will supply a heavy chariot unit, some defensive spearmen, javelin armed skirmishers, a few bowmen & an armoured Royal Guard (heavy infantry spearmen): not enough units.
I have a Mitannian Light chariot unit already painted & some Sea Peoples who can be allies. The Caesar Bedouin sets are a possibility as mercenaries? If so, I can add a camel unit, javelinmen & archers & a medium infantry spear unit.
Comments & suggestions are invited.

Caesar Hittite Warriors Caesar Trojan Army HaT Assyrian Allied Infantry Orion Scythian Infantry (for Kaskians?)
Caesar Hittite Chariots Caesar Mitannian Mariyannu Chariot
Hittites had relationships with their neighbours Assyrians (in an anti-Mitannian alliance) and Anatolic vassal kingdoms (like Arzawa, Ahhiyawa and Wilusa-Troy) and Kaska mountain tribes. I would drop Sea Peoples (they came later) and Arab Bedouins (from desertic areas from the south, not good for green and mountainous regions of Anatolia and Syria)

Interesting idea about the Orion Scythians: I'll look into it.
I think the Lukka, "frenemies" of the Hittites were actually amongst the Sea Peoples so I'll stick with them.
I take your point about the Shasu-Bedouins but I have an NKE force to fight the Hittites so they should be OK. And Mycenaeans. The Caesar sets you cite (& quite a lot of Newline metals) make up my third Bronze Age army so they won't be able to join the Hittites: they'll be fighting them!
Thanks for the comments.

I wouldn't consider Trojans as Mycaeneans.

I wouldn't consider Trojans as Mycaeneans. Hi, Giorgio,
maybe, maybe not. Homer gives most of the Trojans Greek (even specifically Mycenaean) names & essentially they're indistinguishable in dress, culture & ethos from the Achaeans. They can even speak directly to one another. Does this mean the Luwian inhabitants of Illios had a Greek ruling class? Hittite records mention an "Aleksandu of Wilusa": Alexander of Ilios?
So you can either make Trojans sort of Hittites or sort of Greeks IMO: your choice.
@ Ironsides. Thanks. Might help with some battle names.

donald I have the Orion Scythians. The first problem is that back in the days of the Hittite Empire trousers hadn't been invented yet or if they were they had not yet become a popular fashion item that people any where near the area wore.

It seems as though the trousers aren't an issue as I don't need the Scythians.
I'm actually not that far off completing my 800 pt Hittite army: just one unit to finish painting.
It looks like this:
Hittite King in chariot (c-I-c)
From Great Hatti:
1 X BG of Heavy Chariots 1 X BG Hittite Royal Guard (Heavy spearmen) 1 X BG of Armoured Close Fighters 1 X BG of Defensive Spearmen 1 X BG of Chariot Runners (light infantry, shielded & with javelins) 1 X BG of medium Archers
From Canaan:
1 X BG of Light Chariots
From the Shaasu: 1 Chieftain in chariot (Troop Commander) 1 X Camel BG 1 X Offensive Spearman BG 1 X Light infantry BG 1 X Light Archers
From the Sea Peoples:
1 X Sea Peoples' Chieftain in chariot 3 X Sword-armed infantry BGs
I'm aiming to either give them a first game agains a similar sized Mycenaean or NKE force.

Sounds great, Donald. Hope to see some pics of your Hittite army and their upcoming battle.
How many decades did we have to wait for a legitimate opponent to fight our Atlantic Egyptians? :-)
Regards, Andrew

Hi, Andrew,
the Hittite army is courtesy of Caesar, except for some Newline Camels.
My NKE are a more eclectic mix; including Atlantic, Newline, Zvesda, Caesar & even a HaT set (the Nubians)
There is & always will be gaps in the 1/72 ranges but you can cover an awful lot of history now.
