48 as it is the standard we are used to, but 60 will be fine fir me in many cases.

60 per box is the best thank you for asking us our opinion.

40 minimum, there is no maximum. 20 and 24 are pitifully few to the point of ridiculous unless it's a command set. I like the 56 in the Prussian Landwehr, and I can collect Blucher's 1815 army much quicker than usual.

48 standard though I like the occasional "big box" like the Peninsular War Brits.

48 for a standard set, command sets can be fewer. Best regards,

48 minimum; exceptions for large army sets such as your Nassauers, Swedes, 1812 French, and Peninsular Brits are a good exception, but I like the 48-50 figure for a standard set.

I'm honestly not bothered. I'm more concerned about historical accuracy, the quality of sculpting and the absence of flash than the number of figures in a box. I've happily bought multiple boxes of HaT's Nassauers and Wurrtemburgers, yet I am really looking forward the forthcoming marching French and French in greatcoats, which will have 24 and 20 figures per box respectively.
However, this is coming from someone who is working through the second battalions of three regiments of Franznap's marching Baden figures, which cost 1.1 Euros per figure or 44 Euros per battalion. Francesco sells his figures in lots of six infantry figures and four mounted figures, which means I can buy exactly what I need.
As I've said in previous threads, the major cost in painting figures is my time. The cost of materials, whether figures, paint or paintbrushes are not as big a consideration.
To provide some perspective, last night I went to a pub to watch North Melbourne lose to the Gold Coast with my mates. I had a hamburger and several beers, the cost of which would have kept me in model soldiers for several weeks. I will be spending a lot more on my Kangaroos habit and my beer habit in the coming months than my Napoleonic figure habit.

48 is ok but I love 100 per box like Nassau or Peninsular brits infantry.

Proportions matter to me. I like something that has enough Command stand figures to create battalions of 16-20 figures.
Thus the old Zvesda sets, with 48 figures & only one each officer, ensign, musician etc was a pain as I had to seek out extra figures to command the masses.
HaT usually is fine with this.Better too many commanders than not enough.

Thanks for asking
I generally prefer 48 figures in the following configurations
Marchings Sets - 48 figures in 4 poses
Action - 48 fig in 6 poses
Command 28 figures (4 sprues of 7 figs and a horse)
My reasoning for this is I like my command stands to have 6 unique poses with an additional officer in a mounted pose which is on its own base and can as a battalion / brigade commander whatever suits best, I would love 2 flag bearers per command sprue

I think it depend on the set. If its all one type of infantry/ a shared action, like a marching set, then 48. If its a mixed set 60 or greater, this includes mixed action/marching or different types of troops.

I vote for 48. When the 60 box sets come out it (Unmarried Zulus) seems the sellers raise the price higher than the modest gain in figures. If kept at 48 prices seem to remain lower to match the existing sets already offered in their catalogues.
