Recent issues with finding the restocked French light infantry in 1/32 at my regular retail sites got me thinking. My regular “go to” web retailers have been; Michigan toy soldier, Classic, and Toysoldierco, which have historically been great about stocking & restocking Hat and other popular brands.
But none of them have yet stocked the latest Hat 1/32 French light restocks yet (while others are already out of them). So I’m wondering; 1. have others experienced similar selective availability in general? Or noticed apecific issues with these or other retailers? 2. Have any incite on these retailers or how to spur them to pick up the Hat restocks? 3. Know of US retailers that are better about keeping up with Hat 1/32 products? 4. What we and Hat can do to spur them to carry these Hat products?
Cheers

Sadly, my LHS which for many years used to stock hundreds of 1/72 sets & always the latest HaT ones, has let stocks wind down. They seem to add Italeri boxs now & then but HaT, & others, are sick to terminal. It means I buy online now.

Same at Brookhurst Hobbies in Calif. They used to stock tons of 1/72 from all makers but now you have to pull boxes down off the shelf tops and root thru the HAT figs they have there and most other lines are badly depleted. They told me that their local supplier for HAT is not really interesting in carrying alot of stock.

As I said in other post;
Even at Hobby Bunker (the only online retailer I’ve found carrying Hat Chasseur & Voltigeur restocks other than the sold out HobbyLinc) these are on backorder already.
They told me they expect to be able to fill my order next week.
Proves the strong demand for Hat 1/32 Napoleonics!

Its the same in the UK in Yorkshire where I live there where 2 local model shops that carried a lot of Hat product both now seem to have only a few of the latest new releases & the same old unpopular 15 boxes they have had for the last 10 years. One of the shops is owned by a great guy who is in his mid 70's & he's been trying to find someone to take it over for the last two years nobody is interested not good.

We had that kind of old school hobby shop in Military Hobbies on Taft in Orange, CA. Closed a few years ago. Bought tons of 'E' figs for .50 a box (he bought tons of certain products) in the 80s. Still have the ad for it in one of my AFV Hobbies 1971 magazine. Same great owner since the beginning. Sold it to some young folks and they redid the shop but it closed soon afterwards. Darn sad.

For the past couple of years Hearns Hobbies in central Melbourne has carried a very large range of HaT figures - the policy seems to be to stock every item that is available. There's another shop in town - Metro Hobbies - that has a respectable amount of figures though mainly from other manufacturers. Melbourne is very well worth a visit for all sorts of reasons!

Clearly the hobby has gone “on line” (and as I’m from a small town, I regret this as much as anyone) but that has been a tragedy for most local hobby shops. But, since we all still need access to Hat and other producer’s production, my concern is what can be done to make sure the on-line retailers are fully supplied with Hat products. Cheers

Would very much like to hear from the Hat Admin on where we should find their products to purchase.
