Ancient Greek Bireme: "The Sun Dolphin" A model by IMAI which is a remake of an Atlanitic produced ship model. While the Atlantic model is quite rare and collectible from my observations is much more chunky and the IMAI version is superior. I used artist acrylic tube paints, and the water is done with bathroom tissue and Mod Podge, then painted, and then added on tuffs of cotton balls with more Mod Podge for the waves Minis used: Atlantic Ancient greek plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=73Atlantic Greek life in the Aropolis plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=72Orion Roman Sailors (for Greek fire weapon) plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=288Hat Alexanders light infantry (for steers) plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=148Special thanks to Frankzett for allowing me to use his rowers image! Its a really nice finishing touch. I must say I held off on the Altantic figures for some time as they are rarer and a bit more costly, they also get some criticisms for accuracy and proportions, but I must say having them in hand are some of my favorites of the 1/72 world with good sculpting and dynamic poses. For the game: this is a fast and lightly armored escort but with well trained elite troops ready to give all to protect its royal cargo. It carries a short range but devastating hot oil attack for any that dare to board her. The symbol on the sail is Greek for Strength, with an added twist. Thanks for viewing, I hope you enjoy! Please note this is for fun and not 100% historical accurate.

I was never really a fan of Atlantic, but I really did love their Greek/Trojan War series. They might not have been historically accurate down to the last greave, but IMHO captured the spirit of the age and were some well sculpted figures. My kid brothers enjoyed them when I bought them the series for a Christmas while I was stationed in Germany (at the time I didn't know where one could find them in the USA); I was so taken by them when I saw them I got some for myself.

I totally agree, they have really grown on me, at first I wanted them just to go with this warship that was a copy of the Atlantic mold to be representative of that time era of vintage models, but they have quite grown on me in appreciation. In hand and painted look so much better than what is show on plastictoysoliderreview. There is so much historically I think we really do not know that I am not bothered by anything like that. This could represent just a small city state and not the entirety of Greek culture.
I do not have a Trojan series but I would use them for possibly a "Sea Peoples" ship. Should I get to make one. Also looking for the Egyptian Fishing ship.

I bought my brothers a set that had two (2!) of the Greek ships, and another that had the Trojan Horse. I also got them the Egyptian series on another Christmas. I ended up getting them when they lost interest in toy soldiers (something I never "outgrew"); but lost them during a divorce. I regret that now.

I bought many of the big box Atlantic sets and still have them. Unfortunately I threw all the empty boxes away when I moved. I also regret not buying The Colosseum when it was available on the store shelf for $100 but then I didn’t have room to store it either 😁
