I took these pictures many, many moons ago. A couple of days ago, impatient at getting my new "War Room" up and going I decided to "dust off" some old pictures and found these shots showcasing HaT's 1/72 El Cid figures with some back up from some other companies. One of the things I look at when buying figures from different companies is compatibility of scale and styles. I might be able to use figures if the style isn't to far out of sync or even a bit bigger or smaller. I can always separate them on the table and watch my camera angles. But there have been some beautiful sets of subjects I really wanted that I've passed on because the heads were just TOO big or the size difference too great. I think the HaT El Cid figures are some of the best sculpts (out of many superb sculpts) the company has produced and are suitable for a variety of period wars, the Spaniards would make great Normans. Hence I transported them to the Holy Land. I think I shared these before but wasn't really satisified with the way the backdrops blended on the first series so I went to see if I could improve them. First up - an overview of the Crusader Line: Infantry form the base while cavalry sweep along the left flank. The Muslim Infantry attack: Crusader Archers: Cavalry Closeup:
