There is still one huge gap and missing element in toy soldiers land, and that is modern soldiers. Smaller brands are doing some things, but not up to HAT scale, price, quantity and price. And it is not difficult either, most uniforms are equal nowadays, certainly in NATO. There are so many model kits out there, and many wargamers, and after all these years we still do not have the troops to fill the ranks! My list would thus be:
NATO infantry NATO tank and vehicle crew. NATO arty crew (can be combined with crew for missile systems) NATO supporting troops (maintenance, engineers, supply, medics etc).
...and then 4 equal boxes of modern Russians.
I know HAT is was never willing to go for modern troops, but maybe you can reconsider!?

Not my period at all but with release of many armour / aircraft sets available in this scale, and also the very popular team yankee rules set that is available for 15mm figures. It could be a good way of gaining new sales and entering a new period that is definitely wanted by many.
I will stick to my napoleonics to old to change periods but it could prove popular especially with everything thats going on in the world with and many scenarios could be played out.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as "NATO infantry" etc.
Each member nation has its own uniforms and weapons, which are significantly different in many very noticeable ways. I do not know where you get the idea that "most uniforms are equal nowadays, certainly in NATO". That is definitely not the case.
