i've just received my first batch of French in Greatcoats. I asked the question months back why there are eight backpacks for five figures, and didn't get an answer. I note all the backpacks are identical so choice of with or without camp kettles etc isn't the reason. Does anyone else know why? It seems a waste of space and plastic on a set of figures already of minimal size.

Hi Endeavour, The layout of the figures on the sprue was done in 2016 see Sander's excellent test shots, link looking at this sprue if you took off 2 knapsacks I am not sure you could fit 6 figures in, I think if Hat had made them today they would have decided to put the knapsacks on the figures and added 2 more figures. What I would really like to see now is the other 7 poses made in 1/32 scale re-made in 1/72 scale, especially the officer one of the best looking poses I think Hat have ever made. linklink

What is the relevance? Were there eight packs for five figures then as well? Or were there more figures on a larger sprue and this is only part of it? In the intervening two years did no one look at the sprue and think, hang on, there's three too many packs on that sprue? This still doesn't answer why Hat decided to have/put/keep more packs on the sprue than needed. I remain confused. Maybe only Hat Admin has the answer I do have to agree that I would also like to see the action and command poses in greatcoats in 1/72nd scale

I just received this set and the scale of these figures seems smaller than those of their other sets such as 8095

8095 is oversize in my view. Can't wait for them to arrive in Australia!!

I will be collecting a total of 22 boxes, due to their small numbers. 3 extra per sprue, four sprues per box, 264 extra backpacks. I feel blessed

That's the spirit maybe you could make a baggage waggon & put all the backpacks in the back ready for transportation to the next battle. option two; build an camp for you troops and have your backpacks strewn around on the ground outside the tents. or most likely option three put them in the box that contains all the extra heads, swords, Rifles & other "useful" parts that Hat has gifted us over the years & once every two years when you need that elusive weapon or head swear at the huge pile of backpacks you have to wade through before you get to the good stuff.

It still doesn't answer the question, why, though does it? Never mind, maybe it is for the same reason that there's half a drum in the Prussian Landwehr advancing
