I bought some of the Zvesda 1/72 Prussian SYW figures. I've completed a unit: II Battalion Garde. I'm reasonably pleased with the 20 figure unit (Guard -sized unit in my rules). I've experimented with cutting off the mitres & gluing on 3 cornered hats from the HaT SYW sets & think I will do a 16 figure Garrison regiment (militia-sized units in my rules) if I can locate some more of the HaT hats.

A very fine looking unit indeed, King Frederick would be suitably proud to have these troops under his command!
Would be interested to know if the rules that you refer to for unit sizing are of your own invention. As an 'old school' wargamer/collector I'm always delighted to hear that people still develop their own rules.

I could be biassed but I think they give a reasonably historical, quick play game that's fun to play & provides a challenge.
There are probably better SYW games out there, but AGW suits us.

Beautifully executed figures. I've often admired the sculpting of the Zvezda 7YW figures but have been put off by the gigantism that permeates that line. I know they're the same height as Revell's but haven't seen a good comparison with HaT's figures - which I've had in the 1/72 painting queue for some time.

It makes you wonder what Zvezda might have done had they continued producing proper sets of figures. Austrian infantry, a set of Cuirassiers, perhaps a couple of their fantastic artillery sets for the SYW. One can but dream....

Wayne, the Zvesda are very similar to the HaT SYW Prussians in both height & heft.
Indeed, if I can get another box of the HaT SYW Prussian command (primarily for 3 cornered hats), I'll use some of the figures to lead my converted Zvesda Prussian Garrison battalion (hats replacing mitres).
My French infantry are mostly the metal Wodenfeld figures which are also "big" so all in all, everything works.

Very nicely painted figures. I only bought 1 box of the Zvedzda Prussian Grenadiers originally and was dissappointed with the size. However, when Hat released their MAC format Prussians that were compatible in size with the Zvedzda product and included lots of hats for conversion, I actually went out and bought another box. The Zvedza Standard bearers will be converted to Musketeers for a regiment of Advancing/Attacking since they are more lively than the Hat Standard Bearers that are better used with the Firing Line or Marching regiments. Also the Zvedza set has 9 Kneeling Firing that just call out to be converted to Fusiliers or Musketeers for a bit more variety in the Hat Firing Line regiments.
Now, where are those Prussian Artillery?

The 3rd battalion had the yellow mites. The 2nd battalion had cocked hats.

Thank you. I'm slowly getting 2 battalions (40 figures!) of Prussian Garrison troops completed.
I'm using the Zvesda figures, with mitres cut off & HaT tricornes glued on. They are being commanded etc by figures from the HaT Prussian SYW command set, which are not too different in size.
The rather plain Garrison troops look quite dowdy next to the ii battalion Grenadiers.
