Dear Chris,
Two words: Airfix; beautiful!
Lovely painting and refurb. I'm always most impressed when 1/72 figures look so good when photographed that closely.
Regards, James

The Airfix Roman set was one of my favorite sets and I used to keep them around on my desk as a kid. As a kid, I also didn't understand the legionary helmet and wondered why they all had raccoon eyes.

I think that the Airfix Romans were supposed to represent the Romans in the Claudian Invasion of Britain so they were wearing mail shirts to the mid-thigh but had the new curved rectangular shields. The shoulder reinforcements are the wrong shape but I believe that they are wearing mail. Nice to see these figures getting a good paint job, ready to invade Britain.

You have done a good job with this ‘ancient’ set.
For its time it was a winner and displayed like this, still is.
Best wishes,
Chris
