They've arrived! Great figures - all 14 boxes worth (though only 4 boxes to put them in).
The drummers and hornists look as if they will make great conversions for my Lutzow's Freikorps.
I might be old enough for the pension by the time they are all painted!
Well done to all the crowdfunders!

Having begun to paint the figures I have one point of dissatisfaction.
The drummer has a greatcoat slung around his back, but rather than continuing around the front of the figure, the greatcoat changes into part of a strap between the shoulder and the belt holding the drum, and then disappears completely.
Fixable with green stuff???

I think that Greatcoat is supposed to be a kind of drawstring bag or improvised cloth bag to make it easier to carry the drum on the back top row third alongHowever turning it into a rolled Greatcoat is a Great idea.

I've gone with the rolled Greatcoat in green stuff for now. Creases applied with the back of a scalpel blade.

It could be a bag the drum is stored in when not in use but I think the improvized bag in Brians link is the most likely explanation. Note that the drummer doesn't have a knapsack, so where does he keep his personal kit? Rolled up in his blanket which is tied at both ends and slung over the shoulder. In their early days some of the landwehr were quite poorly equipped.
Regarding greatcoats, aren't all of these guys wearing theirs? Yes I know it's a litewka but if it's made of decent broadcloth I would think it's close enough to a greatcoat for them not to be issued another one by a cash strapped Prussian army. The other figures don't have rolled greatcoats over their shoulder. a few have something rolled on top of the knapsack, probably a blanket.
One curious thing about these, each sprue in the action set has one drummer and one and a half drums. It's not a problem, the half drums will be glued together and I'll have a supply of spare drums for any time I need them. Extras are always good. It's just curious.

Perhaps they were blankets - the idea of wearing them around the shoulder was to provide a level of protection from sword cuts. One of the poses in the marching set doesn't have a knapsack either, but there's nothing in the way of an improvised bag.
Anyway, I'm going to provide my first drummer with an all the way around greatcoat/blanket and see how that turns out. BTW, PSR have a review of the two Prussian landwehr kits, and are critical of the placement of the drum in relation to the belt that is meant to support it. An easy fix with scalpel and glue.
I noticed the extra half drum too - I'm pleased because I want to convert the Prussian reservist carrying his musket loosely in his right hand in set 8052 into a drummer, and would have needed to waste drummer figures from other sets in order to get the drums. (I'll use the hand and drumsticks of a surplus drummer from Waterloo 1815 set 008 - these are overly provided with command figures). So, a good outcome.

Perfectly reasonable idea to turn it into a blanket roll over the shoulder Steve but for anyone who doesn't want to muck about with green stuff you don't HAVE to, I don't think it's a mistake in the sculpt.
Yes, I'm not at all fond of that pose in the reserve infantry set. a few drummers might be a good option. Along with a few extra loading figures.

Just wanted to say that I have taken receipt of some Prussian Landwehr and they do look very good. Thank you HaT.
