I would love to see HaT develop Cavalry Sets for the Seven Year's War! Heavy cavalry, Dragoons, and Light cavalry for all the major participants would be especially welcome on the ol' tabletop!

When Hat finally release their SYW Austrian Infantry, together with the Prussian Infantry nearly all the German states and even Spain will be covered since all of those states followed either Austrian or Prussian military fashion. When it comes to cavalry, it is a similar story that a few good sets of the main types can be used for many countries. Personally, I would like to see Hungarian Hussars in Busbies with the trumpeter in a more German style uniform and with a tricorn.
Best regards,
Malcolm

Best regards, Malcolm I'd agree that "generic" SYW cavalry would be fine. Head swops could cover the small exceptions eg bearskins on Mounted Grenadiers, or the tricorned trumpeter you mention.
So: 2 each (German & French style) of cuirassier & dragoon sets & a single hussar set would be a good start?
After that we could start to talk about Russian & British Horse (if I live so long).

Although head swops can produce the elite companies in Dragoon regiments with Grenadier Mitres or Bearskins, the trumpeter for a Hussar Regiment is not so simple since these wore a more German looking uniform with a long tailed coat. I have used the mounted officer from the Airfix "George Washingtons Army" but would like a specific figure in any new set. For Prussian Hussars there is no problem since they wore similar uniforms to the troopers with maybe the addition of "swallows nests".
As to British Cavalry, I converted some Light Dragoons using the Revell SYW Austrian Dragoon bodies with heavily converted Airfix French Imperial Guard heads, mounted on Airfix Cuirassier Horses, just to have Italeri bring out a specific set. I still like my efforts however since it includes both a Drummer and a Blue Uniformed Farrier both wearing Bearskin hats.
Best regards,
Malcolm

That's what's great about 1/72 plastics: the potential for conversions. More power to you & much respect for your efforts.
