As long as Hat are ticking away in the background then that is good enough for me. The hobby requires this once prolific producer to stay in the market. Even if other companies are doing a very good job with improved standards and fast out put, competition is always required. And Hat re-stocks are always much sought after.
It's a shame the forum has gone quiet, and I'm definitely guilty as I have not posted in ages. Maybe admin could throw in a few topics to keep it going-new requests for re-stocks, favourite recent set, suggestions for box art etc. That said, this is probably their evening job and they have got other things to be getting on with!

Based on Hat's current list of projects (Nap Austrians in both scales, British Dragoons/Heavy cav, ACW sets) I'd guess this is several years away. Would this be a good project to start? Yes Have they got excellent masters for hem? Yes Will we ever see them produced? Maybe? One day?

Yeah looks as though the restocks are available pretty much everywhere online. Hat have done the hard work of re-releasing yet another batch of hard to get hold of sets, yet have forgot to announce it to the world! Why don't they make more effort to actually promote the fact these have been re-released and are available NOW. Nothing on their website to say this, no announcement on here to say they have made it the retailers...

Zulus

Until you posted, I had not realised zulus were becoming scare in the shops. A quick internet hunt through my usual internet stores and half of them were no longer stocking them. Reminded me to stock up for the future as you can never have too many zulus...And KingKit have been good when I've previously ordered from them, so if you were to use them, hopefully they would be good for you!

Admin, is it possible to give a list of what is actually in progress and what the order of expectancy is? I'm not asking for time scales for each set, just an understanding as to which sets are furthest developed and closest to release. From what I can remember there are ACW sets, British Nap cavalry, Nap Austrians, masters of AWI sets, BEF figures being discussed and I've probably missed others...Thanks!

You can currently get both zulu sets from Kingkit.co.uk and the unmarried set from drum and flag. Hopefully they won't become completely sold out as Hat have done a great job re-stocking British infantry, command, artillery, gatling guns, Natal Native Horse.
If Hat could consider re-stocking Natal Native Contingent and Lancers that would be great however!

I don't mind some 'fun' box art images for re-stocks. It's something a bit different and might catch the eye of children if they're in the model shop with their family (especially the Simpson's art work). I would't choose to have this style for new releases however.

I have seen Nassau sets sell for £80, British Peninsular for £45, British Zulu war inf £30, Brunswick cavalry for £52, Zvezda Russian Hussars regularly selling for £40-£50, Revell 30 years war sets between £20 and £50. If I see rare sets on ebay I do watch them to see their final prices-an almost morbid curiosity!
I would really like a good condition box of Revell 30 years war artillery and always put a max bid of £20, If I get outbid, then so be it. Surely no set should be worth over double the original price?! Needless to say, I'm always outbid for these sets! The most I have spent (proportionally from the original price) is £11.50 for British zulu war inf about two years ago (long before it was re-stocked). Harfields was the best place to get second hand rare sets from-always fairly priced with no bidding required.

In my early 30's. Had a very long break between 14 years old and 28 as I prioritised drinking, taking drugs and chasing women...then common sense prevailed again...

About to start painting Hat colonial British Artillery. Just finished some zulus. Hat have done a very impressive job of covering this era.

If the choice is a standing at attention figure or nothing then that should be obvious for anyone!

I would guess this is way down on their 'to do' list. Which is a shame. But I suppose it is the Napoleonic releases that actually make them their money with the levels of demand out there.

Zulu war british command set. A great choice of poses and with a very good extra set of arms/equipment to make the set go even further. I'm not sure I can think of any other of their command sets that give as many different combinations as this set.

This is excellent news. I appreciate this will take a long time to come into fruition but I'm pleased to see they've made the next stage of discussing poses/combinations.
I would agree with CPN about doing it in larger box format rather than MAC. Unlike the Nap Wars, the battles involved smaller numbers of forces and especially from the British perspective, was often not whole battalions/regiments getting involved but mixes of several small units forming together to make up a battalion sized unit. Grenadiers and light infantry were often separated from their regiments and combined together. Therefore, I think there is less need for the quantity of standard bearers and musicians that Nap sets require.
A variety of headgear would be really great as well-uniform standards on both sides were very mixed and units did ditch their tricornes for round hats and other alternatives.
For the continentals a high number of loading/firing poses is great-numbers 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 all look very good. I would suggest that a kneeling firing pose would be good.
Sizing wise should match the Accurate British/militia sets.
I'm sure with more time to think I'll bore everyone with more of my thoughts on this!

Maybe 25%. If they released the AWI range that would drastically rise though!

Thanks for asking the question Admin.
With the action set, I'd like to see more variety in the advancing poses. In the SYW Prussian set, the two advancing poses are very similar, whilst it looks like it will be a similar thing with the SYW and Nap Austrians. I'm no fan of the standing at attention pose, whether you put it in the action or marching boxes people will be unhappy!
Also, I was going to comment but the thread got locked before I got the chance, but I think the sampler sets are a great idea. I assume it doesn't cost you much extra to produce, and hopefully doesn't slow your other projects down. Hopefully they will sell well enough to encourage you to experiment with future sampler sets etc.

This could be an easy win for Hat. Universal set that has oxen, mules, packhorses that are kept as general/time unspecific as possible.
