Has anyone ever thought about making separate sets of guns and crew? I don't know about the practicality or feasibility or the marketability of such a thing.
You could do sprues of 4 guns with a variety of barrels (tubes) and package it in whatever multiples you wanted. I would think 8,12 or 16 guns.
Artillery sets are manufactured with the basic crew You have a rammer, a man with Port fire, and a figure carrying ammo and a gun Commander. Some manufacturers some manufacturers give you a figure with a handspike or repositioning Wheels. So you do eight crewmen to a spure in a variety of poses maybe some with rings hands and extra tools. You could also do one or two figures in the act of defending the guns. This would give you the extra artillerymen that the guns required also give you replacements and artillerymen for the random guns that you pick up along the way such as metal,Giant and ,yes, the Eagle games guns. I think maybe doing command groups,en bricole, and prolonge maybe a little ambitious.
Seems to me this would be a system that would give you quite a bit of flexibility .I'm sure there's many details there that I haven't thought of and and I don't know if you even if it would be practical or if you could make money off of it. Just a random thought.

Well my personal preference is more action figures. My games and scenes are more of a tactical nature such as a fight for a village a bridge or redoubt. I usually use a couple of thousand or more troops on a one-to-one ratio. Lots of volleys, attacks, counter-attacks and Close Quarters combat. I only use about 10% standing and marching figures and they are usually for some bulk and to Guard headquarters Supply trains and to augment my artillerymen. Do to my bloodthirsty nature the standing and marching figures usually end up as cannon fodder or cut down mercilessly by enemy cavalry to increase the gore Factor. I need a lot of loading and firing figures and troops advancing with bayontes leveled that can double as melee figures. But I can see where someone playing a more strategic game such as Borodino or Liepzig or a campaign with high figure ratios would need more marching and standing figures. In that respect they become game pieces. I still have a lot of the kid in me and I enjoy "playing" with my little heroes. Another comment is I prefer not to have any standing or marching figures in my command sets. I'd rather have some Junior officers in heroic poses leading my troops, I can promote plenty of Sergeants from my regular Infantry. Lastly I have seen some action sets that had a high proportion of standing Andrew marching figures and that didn't seem like much of an action set to me. It seemed to me like that was being lazy and cutting a corner by using a pose you already had instead of creating a new action pose. Everybody have a good day.

So much to choose from!course I want them all but to keep my list down to a realistic length I would go with the muskets( Napoleonics especially) and the World War 1/2 limber and the World War II US rifle Squad.

Now that's a great question I've got figures that are 50+ years old that are just fine and I've got figures that are 5 years old that are starting to crumble.I don't know what it is,are there's impurities in some batches of raw plastic or outside factors? For example I bought 20 boxes of ESCI Zulus about 30 years ago.I would say about 5 boxes or 20% have gone brittle but the rest are just fine.I've got no explanation and I'm no chemist so I don't know.I've got about 70,000 + figures I bought over the last 50 yearsand most of them are just fine but some have just crumbled and turned to dust. Curiously my 1960s Giant figures are just fine. It's been a good six or seven years since I did a real thorough inventory so I'll have to go through and check and see what's brittle and what's not.I don't think the manufacturer really ever gave much thought to the figures lasting 50 years plus. They probably figured by now most of them would be sucked up by a vacuum cleaner or somebody's mom would throw them away.

I think there may be factors here that we are unaware of.Perhaps other business commitments or health or personal issues.it started out as the original plan of 100 sets.it's grown in the 200 plus, I don't know how many,I haven't counted.and they're still couple score in the planning production stage. That's Quite a feat.so its turned into quite a monster. I imagine a pretty heavy duty time commitment.so give the man a break and a little patience there.I have no idea how big of a staff is involved in this and I imagine just doing restocks is a big job in itself.hang in there guys it's not over yet.

Here in the USA Loctite makes a superglue with an activator specifically for polyethylene plastic. Also Testors makes an activator that works with any super glue but you could only find that in a really well stocked hobby shop or online.Italieri and Emhar use a plastic that takes regular modeling glue.I think Imex does too and you can bend and reshapearms, legs, and heads.Hope that helps a little.

I use Haythornewaite quite a bit,he's one of my primary resources. But I also use everybody else too.Chartrand,Hourtelle,Elting,Griffth, too many to mention. We could talk about that all day long.Right now on my want list Barry Van Danzig and Bernard Cornwell both have recent books on Waterloo and I'm anxious to see what they have to say about it.
